PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing device capable of providing rapid and precise focus control.SOLUTION: An image capturing device includes; an image sensor having plural pixels which share one microlens to receive plural light fluxes passing through different areas of a pupil of an imaging optical system; first computation means which computes a first defocus amount based on a first evaluation value on plural signals acquired from the plural pixels; second computation means which computes a second defocus amount based on a second evaluation value on an addition signal of the plural signals; and control means which controls focusing by referring to the second defocus amount before referring to the first defocus amount.
