PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device capable of restricting its enlargement in size while enabling a large torque to be attained by its simple structure.SOLUTION: This invention comprises the first magnetic member 3 and the second magnetic member 5 that can be relatively rotated; torque transmitting surfaces 7 arranged at the first and second members 3, 5 and opposing to each other with a clearance between them; magnetic viscosity fluid 9 stored between the torque transmitting surfaces 7 of which viscosity characteristic is changed by a magnetic flux loop B passing through the torque transmitting surfaces 7; a female fitted part 11 and a male fitted part 13 arranged at each of the first and second members 3, 5 and fitted in a relative rotatable manner; and an electromagnetic coil 15 arranged at an outer circumferential side of the female fitted part 11 to form a magnetic flux loop B through at least the female fitted part 11 of the female fitted part 11 and the male fitted part 13 under electric energization control. |
