摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance light emitting element which uniformly distribute a current to a luminescent layer.SOLUTION: A light emitting element comprises: a semiconductor structure layer 11 having a structure where a first semiconductor layer 17, a luminescent layer 18 and a second semiconductor layer 19 are layered; a first electrode 14 formed on the first semiconductor layer; a second electrode 15 which pierces the first semiconductor layer and the luminescent layer from the first semiconductor layer side to be connected to the second semiconductor layer; and a trench 16 which has a depth to pierce the first semiconductor layer and the luminescent layer from an inter-electrode region on a surface of the first semiconductor layer to reach the inside of the second semiconductor layer and which is formed to surround the first electrode. The semiconductor structure layer is composed of at least two regions which are a low-resistance direction region as a region of a current path having relatively low electrical resistance and a high-resistance direction region as a region of a current path having relatively high electrical resistance. The second electrode is formed to have at least either of a formation depth of the second electrode or a distance to the trench which is different between the low-resistance direction region and the high-resistance direction region.
