382,363. Step-by-step conveyers; conveying from working-face. BECKETT & ANDERSON, Ltd., ANDERSON, R. C., 59, Greendyke Street, and DAVIDSON, W., 62, Robertson Street, both in Glasgow. Sept. 3, 1931, No. 24707. [Classes 78 (i) and 78 (iv).] In a conveyer of the type comprising a series of carriages coupled together, each of which carriages is equipped with a push-plate mounted for tilting movement on an axis transverse to the line of travel so that it engages the material and impels it when the carriages are moved in one direction, and slides over it when they are moved in the opposite direction, the carriages are arranged so that their movements overlap. The carriages B are connected by ropes, rods, or chains C and are fitted with runners K slidable on rails A<1> fixed to the side walls of a trough A. A push-plate H is detachably hinged to one end of each carriage. These plates may be detached and hinged to the other end of each carriage when it is desired that the conveyer should act in the opposite direction. |
