PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support for the fluid bed which is excellent in long-term durability and long-term flow stability and especially is excellent as a microorganism fixation support for the anaerobic fluid bed.SOLUTION: A support for the fluid bed uses an ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene which has an intrinsic viscosity ([&eegr;]) of 15-60 dl/g and preferably a difference (&Dgr;Tm=Tm-Tm) between Tmand Tmof 11-30°C, where Tmis the melting point of the first scan measured when being temperature-raised from 0°C to 230°C at a temperature raising rate of 10°C/min (first scan) and Tmis the melting point of the second scan measured when being left standing for 5 min after the first scan, temperature-lowered to -20°C at a temperature lowering rate of 10°C/min, left standing for 5 min and temperature-raised again from -20°C to 230°C (second scan). |
