A releasable closure (60, 62) provides for the opening and closing of a package assembly (10) which accommodates a plurality of elongate consumable products (20). The assembly includes a package housing (11) for supporting the products. The package housing includes a first product accommodating compartment (12) and a second product accommodating compartment (14) separated by a hinge (55). Each of the product accommodating compartments has an open end (30, 32) adjacent the hinge. The product accommodating compartments are foldable about the hinge in a book-like fashion. The releasable closure (60, 62) is applied to each compartment and positioned to be in aligned facing relationship for mutual engagement upon closably folding the compartments about the hinge. In an alternative embodiment, the releasable closure is a clip secured to one of the compartments and having a U-shaped clip portion for frictionally engaging the other compartment.
