PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outboard motor having a shift mechanism that effectively achieves downsizing, proper operation, or the like.SOLUTION: A forward/backward shifting mechanism having an intermediate gear 42 supported by an intermediate shaft 43 orthogonal to a drive shaft 17 is disposed between a first input shaft 171 and a second input shaft 172. A clutch body is configured by a dog clutch 45 having engaging claws 451 respectively disposed on upper and lower parts thereof. The clutch body moves along an axial direction of the second input shaft 172 and engages with an upper gear 41 or a lower gear 44, thereby transmitting rotation of the first input shaft 171 to the second input shaft 172 so as to be normally or reversely rotatable. |
