PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust aftertreatement system with catalytic deactivation monitoring.SOLUTION: An exhaust aftertreatement system 10 includes a controller 14 configured to determine if a combustion engine 12 is operating under a desired rich combustion condition. The controller is also configured, if the combustion engine is operating under the desired rich combustion condition, to monitor a catalytic activity within an ASC assembly 24 that converts NHwithin exhaust gases from the combustion engine into Nto determine whether the catalytic activity has been deactivated in the ASC assembly.
