PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of fixing (locking) valve timing at a prescribed position in a relatively short time.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes: a variable valve timing mechanism 11 having a housing 15 synchronously rotated with a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine, and an inner rotor 12 rotated integrally with a camshaft 2 of the internal combustion engine and relatively rotated with respect to the housing 15; lock mechanisms 31 and 41 capable of restricting a relative rotation position of the housing 15 and the inner rotor 12 at a lock position between a most advanced position and a most retarded position; and a cam lobe 61 integrally rotated with the camshaft 2 and opening and closing an operation valve. The cam lobe 61 has a cam profile different at a lift rising side and a lift lowering side. |
