PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating water containing cyanogen and ammonia which decomposes cyanogen and ammonia sufficiently even when the concentration of soluble iron is high.SOLUTION: A method of treating wastewater containing cyanogen and ammonia includes a step of adding a chemical containing a hypobromous acid and/or hypochlorous acid to wastewater containing cyanogen and ammonia to decompose cyanogen and ammonia oxidatively. A liquid prepared by mixing a bromide aqueous solution with a hypochlorite aqueous solution to form hypobromous acid and/or hypochlorous acid is added to wastewater containing cyanogen and ammonia. More specifically, a sodium bromide aqueous solution and a sodium hypochlorite aqueous solution are mixed in an equimolar ratio of so that sodium hypobromite is excess, and the resultant mixture is added. |
