PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel extracellular secretion variant of luciferase derived from Oplophorus gracilirostris which is a deep sea shrimp.SOLUTION: The invention provides a luciferase variant which uses coelenterazine as a luminescent substrate, has higher activity, and secretes extracellularly without considering the presence or absence of a secretion signal sequence derived from eukaryotic cell organisms when expressed within a cultured cell of an animal by inspecting a mutation site of a known variant (nanoKAZ) of a protein with a molecular weight of 19 kDa which catalyzes emission in Oplophorus gracilirostris luciferase to select and combine the mutation.
