PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal cooling type roll and a method for conveying a high-temperature material, in which generation of roll bending is suppressed by reducing a temperature difference between contact locations of the high-temperature material and other locations on an outer peripheral surface of the roll.SOLUTION: In an internal cooling type roll 10 which comprises a roll body 11 having a plurality of cooling passages 15 in an inner section and a pair of bearing bodies 12 rotatably supporting the roll body 11, the plurality of cooling passages 15 are annularly arranged along an axial direction and each of the cooling passages 15 has an inlet 16 and an outlet 17 for a fluid. Further, the internal cooling type roll 10 has fluid supply means 13 for supplying a coolant a as the fluid from the inlet 16 of each of the cooling passages, only to a cooling passage 15 existing in a region A located in a predetermined direction based on an axis of the roll body 11.
