PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque converter which is improved in the reliability of an operation of a lockup mechanism.SOLUTION: A torque converter comprises: a front cover which rotates by being inputted with power from an engine; a piston 21 which has an engagement claw 22, and is friction-engaged with the front cover at the operation of a lockup mechanism; and a damper 31 which has a notched part 32 engaged with the engagement claw 22, and is arranged at a side opposite to the front cover with respect to the piston 21. The engagement claw 22 includes a drive torque transmission face 23 which is arranged at a side of the front cover in a turning direction, and contacts with the notched part 32, and a driven torque transmission face 24 which is arranged at a side opposite to the drive torque transmission face 23 in a circumferential direction, and contacts with the notched part 32. The drive torque transmission face 23 is inclined so as to gradually approximate the driven torque transmission face 24 in a turning axial direction of the front cover which approximates the damper 31 from the piston 21. The driven torque transmission face 24 is parallel with a turning axis of the front cover. |
