PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the treatment of carbonaceous material that optimizes heating conditions, while producing a high yield of a pyrolysis oil.SOLUTION: A method of treating a carbonaceous material in a fluidized bed reactor is disclosed. The method includes inputting a carbonaceous material into a fluidized bed reactor; fluidizing the carbonaceous material with a fluidizing medium to form a fluidized bed of carbonaceous material in the fluidized bed reactor; and heating the fluidized bed of carbonaceous material in the fluidized bed reactor with microwave energy at a pressure less than about 5 atmospheres and in the absence of oxygen, to generate a mixture comprising char, oil and gas. |
