PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing simply and efficiently a dicarboxylic acid diaryl ester having a plurality of fluorene rings in the single molecule to be used as a raw material of a polycarbonate resin that shows desired reverse wavelength dispersion and has excellent optical characteristics such as a low photoelastic coefficient, even in a low content of the dicarboxylic acid diaryl ester in the resin.SOLUTION: An oligofluorene compound represented by general formula (I) is reacted with an unsaturated carboxylic acid aryl ester represented by general formula (II) in the presence of a base to produce an oligofluorene diaryl ester represented by general formula (III).
