PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image from being distorted by setting a condition for effectively utilizing correction processing by a camera shake correction function, and to set wide range to which the camera shake correction function is applicable.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus (2, 30) includes an image generation section (6, camera ISP 34) for segmenting a part of a captured motion picture image (20) in accordance with a shake direction and generating a motion picture image (corrected image 22) of which the camera shake state is corrected. The imaging apparatus also includes an angular velocity sensor (10, gyroscope 40), brightness information acquisition means (12, 32) and a control section (8). The angular velocity sensor detects a shaking amount of a housing (14). The brightness information acquisition means acquires brightness information (exposure time) of an imaging environment. On the basis of a detection value of the angular velocity sensor, the control section discriminates whether the shaking amount of the housing meets a predetermined discrimination condition and, in the case where it is discriminated that the shaking amount meets the discrimination condition, sets a maximum value for a range within which a motion picture image can be segmented by the image generation section, in accordance with the acquired brightness information. |
