PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of a deformation mark in a nip part, while preventing reduction in jam processability, when an image heating device is detached from an image forming apparatus body.SOLUTION: A fixing device 20 includes a film assembly 31, a pressure roller 32 which forms a fixing nip part N for heating a recording material carrying an image, while sandwiching and conveying the recording material together with the film assembly 31, a press-contact mechanism which applies pressure to the fixing nip part N, and a pressure release mechanism (cams 48 and 49) which acts on the press-contact mechanism, to release the pressure applied to the fixing nip part N, and can be attached to and detached from the image forming apparatus body. Further, the fixing device 20 includes a holding mechanism (a regulation boss 56 and a rotation prevention lever 57) which holds the pressure release mechanism in a pressure release state, according to a detachment operation from the image forming apparatus body. |
