A method and system for interactive 3D surgical planning are provided. The method and system provide 3D visualisation and manipulation of at least one anatomical feature in response to intuitive user inputs, including gesture inputs. In aspects, fracture segmentation and reduction, screw placement and fitting, and plate placement and contouring in a virtual 3D environment are provided.

1. A system for segmentation and reduction of a three-dimensional model of an anatomical feature, the system comprising:
a. a display unit configured to display a two-dimensional rendering of the three-dimensional model to a user; b. an input unit configured to receive a user input gesture comprising a two-dimensional closed stroke on the display unit; and c. a manipulation engine configured to:
i. select a subset of the three-dimensional model falling within the two-dimensional closed stroke;ii. receive a further user input gesture from the input unit; andiii. manipulate in accordance with the further user input gesture the subset relative to the surrounding three-dimensional model from an initial placement to a final placement.
