PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition containing an effective amount of analgesics to treat a subject, including to reduce or eliminate an adverse effect associated with the analgesics.SOLUTION: A composition of a multilayer tablet form comprises an opioid analgesic, non-opioid analgesic, and agent to reduce or eliminate an adverse effect of the opioid and/or non-opioid analgesic. The agent which reduces or eliminates the adverse effect of the analgesic is selected from an antiemetic or antihistaminic, such as promethazine, dolasetron, granisetron, ondansetron, tropisetron, and palonosetron. The multilayer tablet comprises (a) an outer immediate-release layer containing an agent which reduces or eliminates the adverse effect of the opioid analgesic, and (b) an inner controlled-release layer containing an opioid analgesic and non-opioid analgesic. |
