PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an erosion shield having a high resistance against erosion and a rotor blade manufacturing method.SOLUTION: A rotor comprises: a blade main body having an extremity acting as an end part in an upstream side in a rotating direction and a blade surface coming in contact with the extremity and acting as an upstream side surface in a flowing direction of working fluid; and an erosion shield formed by a padding using a laser welding in at least the extremity of the blade main body and at least a part of the blade surface. The blade main body has a shape in which an interface in respect to the erosion shield at a section crossing at a right angle in an extending direction approaches a surface at opposite side of the blade surface as the interface moves from the end part of the blade surface toward the extremity. The blade main body includes the first arc including the end part of the blade surface and the second arc arranged closer to the extremity than the first arc, the first arc protrudes toward the inside of the blade main body, and the second arc protrudes toward the outside of the blade main body.
