PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of preventing deterioration of image quality.SOLUTION: A printer comprises: a ribbon 41 installed between spools 43, 44; DC motors Mr3, Mr1 for rotating these spools 43, 44; a driver for supplying drive power to the motor; an encoder for detecting a rotation amount of the motor; and a control part for controlling the driver. A CPU drives the motor in a state that tension by the ribbon 41 is not applied, calculates rotation speed of the motor based on the motor rotation amount detected by the encoder, applies the calculated rotation speed and supply current at the time when the motor is driven to the relationship of rotation speed on a reference motor and supply current, and calculates supply current which achieves the rotation speed same as the rotation speed at the time when the reference motor is driven by the supply current at the time when the motor is driven. |
