Also provided are methods of affecting a biological process by administering a therapeutic, prophylactic, or diagnostic agent, such as functional nucleic acid, to a cell or a subject, where the therapeutic, prophylactic, or diagnostic agent, such as functional nucleic acid, is derivatized therapeutic, prophylactic, or diagnostic agent, such as nucleic acid.
