A smart phone device [10] has a display screen [14] overlaid by a touch screen [16] and a processor and a memory in the device hosting functions to perform display and touch functions. A logic [18] executing in the processor in the device [10] programmed to use a part of the touch screen [16] as a biometric sensor [20]. The logic [18] sets aside a space on the touch screen [16] for that specific space to function as the biometric sensor [20]. The biometric sensor [20] configured to use and uses either a finger of the hand or a thumb and thus captures either a fingerprint or a separate and distinct thumbprint, where a fingerprint and a thumbprint are different biometric samples. |
