In this tape feeder, when setting a tape supplier (21) in a feeder main body (13), a sprocket (42) is lowered to a retracted position. In this state, an operator sets the tape supplier (21) in the feeder main body, and sets a component supply tape (12) above the sprocket (42). Further, a motor (44) of the sprocket (42) is driven to rotate the sprocket (42) to an initial position, and a prescribed tooth of the sprocket (42) is positioned above the rotation center of said sprocket (42). Thereafter, the sprocket (42) is raised to a meshing position, and the teeth of the sprocket (42) mesh with tape feeding holes (12a) in the component supply tape (12). |
