A method of a client device (401) for establishing a Multipath Transmission Control Protocol (MPTCP) connection is provided, the method comprising receiving, from an application (401a) being executed in the client device, a request (621) for establishing a Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) connection with an origin server (403), and transmitting an MPTCP connection request (622) to a proxy server (402). The MPTCP connection request comprises an address ("addr_server") of the origin server (403). In addition, a method of a proxy server (402) for establishing an MPTCP connection is provided, the method comprising receiving, from a client device (401), an MPTCP connection request (622) comprising an address of the origin server, extracting (623) the address of the origin server (403) from the MPTCP connection request, and transmitting a TCP connection request (624) to the origin server (403). By including the address of the origin server (403) into the MPTCP connection request (622) transmitted by the client device (401) to the proxy server (402), network paths outside the network in which the proxy server (402) is deployed may be utilized by the MPTCP connection. |
