PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device which can achieve any one of, or favorably all of improved luminous efficiency, inhibition of the occurrence of luminance unevenness or color unevenness, high output light emission even when mounting a large area light emitting element.SOLUTION: A light emitting device 100 comprises: a light transmissive member 20 having a surface serving as a light emitting surface 90 of the light emitting device 100 and a light receiving surface; a light emitting element 10 which includes an outgoing surface coupled to the light receiving surface and a translucent substrate having a surface opposite to the outgoing surface, where a semiconductor element structure is provided; and a coating member 40 which contains a light reflective material 45 and exposes the light emitting surface and coats a lateral face of the light emitting element and extends from the lateral face to coat a part of the light transmissive member. The light emitting element has on the surface of the translucent substrate, a separation part and a plurality of light emitting structure parts 12 respectively provided in regions of the semiconductor element structure, which are separated from each other by the separation part. The coating member coats the separation part and the light emitting structure parts adjacent to the separation part, and has a light reflection part on a surface on the coated side. |
