PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for reducing viral and microbial content in biological extracts containing solid matters.SOLUTION: The method of the invention comprises the steps of: (a) preparing a solid-containing biological extract containing at least one effective component having a biological activity, selected from enzymes, proteins and peptides or a mixture of such effective components; and (b) subjecting the extract prepared in step (a) to a high pressure treatment under a pressure of 3000-6000 bar, where the solid-containing biological extract after the high pressure treatment retains at least 50% of the biological activity of the solid containing biological extract before the high pressure treatment.
