PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication connector that assists in reducing cost of upgrades and/or in simplifying upgrades.SOLUTION: An outer housing 500 is shaped to be removable from an inner housing assembly 400 having a movable pin clamp mechanically coupled to alignment pins 602 for aligning a connector 300 with another connector. The pin clamp may be slid from a first position (corresponding to a male gender) to a second position (corresponding to a female gender). Separately from or in combination with changing gender, polarity of the communication connector may be changed due to its inclusion of an asymmetric polarity-changing feature that can be actuated by an installer to change polarity of the communication connector. Such a feature may be actuated by being moved from a first position to a second position relative to the communication connector. |
