Provided are a cylindrical-member molding method and device which make it possible to accurately mold a band-shaped member into a cylindrical shape without any meandering. The present invention involves: using a before-wrapping position sensor (4) to detect the position of a member reference line (L1) extending in the lengthwise direction of a band-shaped member (8a) along the entire length of the band-shaped member (8a) in the lengthwise direction thereof, before mounting the band-shaped member (8a) onto a conveyor belt (3), conveying the same to a molding drum (2), and wrapping the same therearound; on the basis of this detection data and positional data for a drum reference line (DL) set in a prescribed position in the widthwise direction of the drum so as to intersect the drum axial center (DX) of the molding drum (2), moving the molding drum as a result of control by a control unit (6) in the drum widthwise direction relative to the conveyor belt (3), while matching the member reference line (L1) and the drum reference line (DL) to one another when wrapping the band-shaped member (8a) around the molding drum (2); and as a result, forming the band-shaped member (8a) into a cylindrical shape by wrapping the same around the molding drum (2). |
