This electric power steering device has a control unit that comprises: a power module that is in surface contact with a heat sink and has a built-in plurality of switching elements that control the electricity supplied to an electric motor; a holder that ensures adhesion of the power module to the heat sink and decides position; and a control substrate that is disposed separated from the holder in a shaft direction and whereon a central processing unit (CPU) that controls the driving of the electric motor is mounted. The power module is disposed on one surface on one side of the holder, and peripheral surfaces of capacitors that suppress electrical power pulses are disposed close to capacitor recessed parts formed on the other surface on the other side.
