PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a ceramic honeycomb filter where variation in the length of a sealing portion formed in a ceramic honeycomb structure is hardly caused.SOLUTION: In a production method of a ceramic honeycomb filter where the end surface of a ceramic honeycomb structure is pressed to a slurry in a container and a sealing portion is formed by introducing the slurry into a prescribed cell, the viscosity of the slurry is 0.1-10 Pa s, the container has a cylindrical inner shape and a flat bottom, a cylindrical jig is fitted on the outer peripheral surface of the ceramic honeycomb structure in the state of interposing a cylindrical elastic member, the end surface of the ceramic honeycomb structure is pressed to the slurry in the container at a pressure of 3.0×10-25.0×10MPa in the state of arranging an annular elastic member between the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical jig and the inner peripheral surface of the container, pressing is kept for a prescribed time, and then the sealing portion is formed by introducing the slurry into the prescribed cell. |
