Sexual hormones are obtained from body fluids, such as urine, follicle liquid, and amniotic fluid, by saturating these with water-soluble alkali, alkaline earth or ammonium salts, whereupon, on standing, the liquid separates into two visibly distinct layers the upper of which contains the hormone and is separated and worked up in known manner. The fluids may be acidified before addition of the salt. Examples relate to the treatment of the urine of pregnant women with ammonium sulphate and to the treatment of man's urine with sodium hydrogen sulphate. Specification 368,928 is referred to.
