MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE AND READ CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device allowing improvement in memory capacity.SOLUTION: The magnetic disk device comprises a magnetic disk in which a sequential write direction is, in shingled-write recording, inverted in a switching position where a skew angle of a write head between an outer periphery and an inner periphery is zero. The magnetic disk device switches between: a first control of assigning a first read head as a master head for reading data from the magnetic disk and assigning a second read head as a slave head for reducing noise by inter-track interference in reading the data and by waveform averaging effect with the master head; and a second control of assigning the second read head as the master head and assigning the first read head as the slave head.
