PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst having industrially usable strength.SOLUTION: In a method of producing a catalyst support for production of ethylene oxide from ethylene which is formed by baking a raw material containing an alumina raw powder having the α-alumina structure, the alumina raw powder having the α-alumina structure contains an alumina raw powder having a specified α-alumina structure of a BET specific surface area of 1.45-2.75 m/g and the sodium content in the catalyst support is 1,000 ppm or lower.
