PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve stable binding processing without being greatly affected by bundle thickness and material of a sheet bundle, and achieve sure binding processing by actuating large compression force to sheets in a state that rotation of a drive motor is stopped.SOLUTION: A sheet binding device comprises: compression means for crimping a sheet bundle for binding the sheet bundle; a compression surface disposed on the compression means which moves from a standby position away from the sheet bundle to a compression position for compressing the sheets; a drive motor; transmission means for converting rotation of the drive motor into motion of the compression surface; and control means for controlling the rotation of the drive motor. The control means controls the rotation of the drive motor so as to deliver predetermined set speed when the compression surface is engaged with the sheet bundle, and so as to deliver predetermined set torque after the compression surface is engaged with the sheet bundle. The control means comprises a first control mode for controlling voltage to be supplied to the drive motor, and a second control mode for controlling current to be supplied to the drive motor. |
