PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase discharge stability by a boost pulse.SOLUTION: In a multidrop type ink jet head where a driving pulse alternately including a positive pulse of electrical voltage +V, and a negative pulse of electrical voltage -V is applied to an actuator so as to generate pressure oscillation in an ink chamber, and a plurality of ink drops are continuously discharged from the ink chamber by the pressure oscillation, a boost pulse to be applied to the actuator before the driving pulse for preliminarily vibrating the ink chamber is a pulse of an electrical voltage for generating in the actuator an electrical field of a half of an electric potential difference between a positive pulse and a negative pulse.
