PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inhibitors of nitric oxide synthase (NOS)5, particularly those that selectively inhibit neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) in preference to other NOS isoforms, which can be used for treating or preventing conditions such as stroke, reperfusion injury, neurodegeneration, head trauma, CABG, migraine headache with and without aura, migraine with allodynia, central post-stroke pain (CPSP), neuropathic pain, morphine/opioid induced tolerance and hyperalgesia.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a compound expressed by the formula (1), where Ris H, RAC(NH)NH(CH)ror RNHC(S)NH(CH)r; Ris H, RAC(NH)NH(CH)r, or RNHC(S)NH(CH)r; and one (not both) of Rand Ris H.
