Disclosed are a method for managing a base station and a base station. The method comprises: a first base station of a UE searches out a candidate cell by means of cell searching, wherein the candidate cell belongs to a second base station, and the first base station is located within the coverage range of the second base station; the first base station accesses the candidate cell via an air interface; according to identity authentication information about the first base station, the first base station is connected to a network management system via the second base station so that the network management system manages the first base station. The method for managing a base station and the base station of the embodiments of the present invention can increase the operation and maintenance efficiency and reduce the operation and maintenance cost. |
