A printing cylinder assembly is disclosed comprising a sleeve cylinder and a rotating shaft. The rotating shaft is axially supported at a one axial end shaft section thereof in a cantilever structure. The sleeve cylinder for removably mounting on the rotating shaft can be fitted on, and extracted from, the rotating shaft. It is sought to ensure that the sleeve cylinder can be firmly coupled to the rotating shaft, without causing a backlash and axial deflection of the mounted sleeve cylinder and permitting it to be readily decoupled The rotating shaft 20 is formed peripherally at one axial end side of the rotating shaft 20 with a sleeve cylinder supporting tapered surface 25, and the sleeve cylinder 30 is formed at one axial end side of an inner diameter portion of the sleeve cylinder 30 with a tapered surface 38 for contact with the sleeve cylinder supporting tapered surface 25. With the rotating shaft 20 and the sleeve cylinder 30 so arranged, forcing the sleeve cylinder 30 to be fitted on the rotating shaft 20 along the rotating shaft, bringing the tapered surface 38 of the sleeve cylinder 30 into close contact with the sleeve cylinder supporting tapered surface 25 of the rotating shaft 20 to fit the tapered surfaces 25 and 38 together, couples the sleeve cylinder 30 firmly with the rotating shaft 20, without causing such possible backlash and axial deflection, and permitting the sleeve cylinder 30 to be readily dismounted. |
