摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of evaluating purification performance of an exhaust gas purifying catalyst 11 during a transient period from a state of low-temperature and lean air-fuel ratio atmosphere to a rich air-fuel ratio state. <P>SOLUTION: The air-fuel ratio of an atmosphere of the catalyst 11 is changed from lean to rich. NOx purifying speed of the catalyst 11 while a simulant exhaust gas with the new rich air-fuel ratio is supplied is calculated.
