The present invention relates to an image deinterlacing system and a method thereof wherein excellent performance is provided regardless of linear or non-linear relation between adjacent fields, and balance between time consumption and visual quality is maintained in a deinterlacing work. The image deinterlacing system using a region-based back propagation artificial neural network according to the present invention includes: a modeling unit which trains achitectures and parameters of an edge back propagation artificial neural network (BP-ANN) and a smooth BP-ANN by dividing a region of a target pixel into an edge data set and a sooth data set; and a deinterlacing unit which deinterlaces an image by using the BP-ANN trained in the modeling unit. |
