[Class 83 (iv).] A matrix for the extrusion of metal, especially of zinc and aluminium in the cold, by co-operation with a mandrel 2, comprises a ring 4 which contacts only along the edge of its inner face 9 with the base member 3 which is formed with a recess 5 to receive the blank 1. The ring 4 is formed conical on its outer surface to engage the similarly shaped surface of a clamping ring 7, a screwed plug 11 being caused to abut against the lower end of the member 3 to secure the matrix.
