A device to trap and kill flying insects such as mosquitoes and flies. The device comprises: an upper housing 1 with electric motor; a connecting rod 3 coated with an adhesive attractant; a movable middle barrel 2 containing a reservoir of the attractant, a sponge-like block to apply the attractant to the rod, and a lower scraping cover; and a lower housing 4 for containing a liquid to drown the insects. The central rod connects the upper housing to the lower housing, and also acts as the axis for the middle barrel to slide vertically on. In use, the middle barrel is raised by the motor along the connecting rod, applying sticky attractant such as sugar syrup along the length of the rod or rods. The barrel is lowered by the motor, with the bottom edge scraping stuck insects from the rods, into the liquid container below, where the trapped insects are smothered. |
