PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery with excellent battery characteristics such as output characteristics by improving moldability of a flat electrode body.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes: a positive electrode plate containing a lithium transition metal composite oxide as a positive electrode active material; a negative electrode plate containing a carbon material capable of absorbing/desorbing lithium ions as a negative electrode active material; and a flat electrode body wound with the electrodes laminated via a separator. A protective layer constituted by inorganic oxide and an insulation binding material is provided on the front surface of the negative electrode plate. The separator has arithmetic mean surface roughness which is different between the front and rear surfaces. The surface of the separator with larger arithmetic mean surface roughness is placed in contact with the protective layer. The separator is a porous material made of polyolefin. |
