[Class 132 (ii).] A grip particularly for a golfclub shaft or other striking implement for games comprises a foundation strip 3 having an integral raised portion 4 and a covering strip 6 wound over the foundation strip in such a manner as to expose the raised portion and form a composite gripping surface. The foundation strip is formed of a mixture of rubber and finely-ground cork on a fabric backing 7 and is tapered both in width and thickness from one end to the other. The covering strip is formed of leather and may or may not be tapered.</p> |
