Continuous process for preparing neral in pure form

Neral (cis-citral) preparing involves distillatively removing neral from substance mixtures (a) such that one or multiple low boiling, average boiling and high boiling fraction or fractions are isolated. The substance mixtures have neral and geranial (trans-citral). The distillative removal is carried out in a dividing wall column or in a connection of two distillation columns in the form of a thermal coupling with 80-200 theoretical stages of separation and one or multiple lateral discharge sites by an absolute operating pressure of 5-200 millibar.
