<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron head having a large sweat area and having good ball hitting feeling upon hitting a golf ball at the center. <P>SOLUTION: The upper rear surface of the iron head 10 is formed into a cavity portion 16, and the lower part is formed into a swelling portion 17. A first recessed portion 18 on the heel side and a second recessed portion 19 on the toe side are provided to be recessed from the upper surface 16b of the swelling portion toward the sole surface 14. The recessed portion 18 is gradually increased in depth toward the heel side, and the recessed portion 19 is gradually increased in depth toward the toe side.
