Jan. 7, 1932, No. 513. Convention date, Jan. 7, 1931. [Class 46.] A suction chamber with one end open is arranged adjacent to a rotary drum filter at the point where the cake is removed from the drum. Fig. 2 shows the device applied to a sectionalized suction filter 2. As each section approaches the open end of a chamber 11 which is connected to an exhauster 36, the suction within the section is shut off and the consequent outward passage of air and liquid removes the cake. The cake falls into a compartment 31 and liquid is drawn over into a compartment 32. The edges of the end of the chamber 11 are provided with flexible lips or seals 13, 14. The seal 14, Fig. 3, comprises a slot 17 through which liquid from a pipe 16 and a passageway 15 is supplied as a lubricant to promote the discharge of the solid matter. An adjustable gate 34 is arranged at the upper end of the wall which separates the compartments 31, 32. It is stated that the arrangement for discharging the cake can be applied to an internally-fed rotary filter. |
