[Class 74 (ii).] For reducing vibration in knitting-machines, balancing masses applied to needle, sinker, presser, &c. bars of warp machines at various points along their length are caused to move by amounts equal and opposite to the movements of the working parts. The Figure shows balancing mechanism for needle-bars comprising weights 41, 42 mounted on balance levers 43 oscillated about the same shafts 33 as the needle-bar by a cam 47 mounted on the same cam shaft 39 and acting on rollers 45, 46. The arrangement for sinkers and pressers is similar. The weights may be formed on the balance levers by filling suitable cavities with lead &c.
