392,204. Brushes and brush-holders for dynamo-electric machines. MORGAN CRUCIBLE CO., Ltd., Battersea Works, Church Road, London, and HEWS, C. J., 15, Dalmeney Road, Carshalton, Surrey. Nov. 12, 1931, No. 31409. [Class 35.] A brush and brushholder combination comprises a brush a having a projection d extending in the direction of the brush thickness and a holder having a pressure device to act on this projection to maintain the brush against one face of its guide irrespective of the direction of rotation. In the form shown, the pressure is exerted by the roller e<1> carried on the lever e, and the brush guide b is slotted at i to prevent the lever e being impeded when the brush wears. In a modified form, the lever e may bear directly on the projection which may extend at rightangles to the side of the brush, or a spring may serve as the pressure device. The projection may be a piece of metal or other material attached to the brush or be part of the brush itself.
|
